Since ancient times, the Chinese have known that physical aging begins from the feet.
That’s why many classical medical texts include exercises for the soles and calves specifically aimed at slowing down the aging process—it’s no coincidence.
If you regularly practice these five exercises, you may not stop aging entirely, but you can certainly extend your youthful years.
Aging often begins from the feet. Practicing simple foot exercises regularly can help prevent aging, improve foot health, and promote overall well-being.
1. Walk Barefoot
Walk barefoot as often as possible. Of course, walking barefoot in nature is extremely beneficial.
If that’s not possible, at least walk barefoot at home. Even if the floor is cold, take off your slippers and walk barefoot for 10–15 minutes, three times a day.
2. Walk on Heels and Toes
Get used to walking on your heels, toes, and both the inner and outer edges of your feet.
This strengthens the bones, veins, and tendons in your feet, improves blood circulation, and helps internal organs function better.
It’s not difficult to do—try it and you’ll feel the benefits.
3. Tap the Soles of Your Feet
Starting today, gently tap the soles of your feet using a soft object like a rubber or wooden mallet.
You can even use a rolling pin or an empty glass bottle. Begin by tapping your toes and move gradually along the sole.
After a short while, you’ll feel a pleasant warmth flowing through your body and a sense of relaxation.
The Chinese believe this is one of the best ways to boost overall blood circulation—not just in the feet, but throughout the body.
4. Massage the Yongquan Point
Chinese experts recommend massaging a special point on the sole called Yongquan, located in the center of the foot’s arch, just behind the toes.
This massage relaxes the muscles and tendons, and improves blood flow. It’s best to do it in the morning and evening.
There are two methods:
-
Dry Method: Press this point 20 times continuously on each foot, one at a time.
-
Wet Method: Soak your feet in 38°C (100°F) warm water until they turn red. Then press the point with your thumbs 80 times on both feet simultaneously. Finish by massaging the soles with your hands for 3–5 minutes.
5. Alternate Hot and Cold Foot Baths
This method is very beneficial for your feet.
It boosts blood circulation, strengthens the feet, and slows down aging.
Soak your feet alternately in hot and cold water.
Finally, try to walk more, keep your feet active, and take care of them.
Don’t let laziness affect your feet. Life is movement.
